Maritime Robotics showcases sustainable maritime solutions at NADIC Defense Week 2025
Maritime Robotics, a leader in autonomous maritime solutions, participated in NADIC Defense Week 2025 in Washington D.C., showcasing the critical role of Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) in advancing safe, smart, and sustainable maritime operations.
Maritime Robotics participated in this year’s NADIC Defense Week in Washington D.C., joining government officials, defense leaders, and industry experts from both Norway and the United States. As part of the 11th Annual Norwegian-American Defense Conference, Maritime Robotics CEO Vegard Hovstein contributed to the panel “Maritime Domain Awareness – From Seabed to Space.”
The panel, moderated by Iris Ferguson, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Arctic & Global Resilience, brought together representatives from Kongsberg Satellite Services, Eelume, and the U.S. Department of Defense. Discussions focused on how a combination of underwater sensors, satellite monitoring, and autonomous systems can deliver a more complete and responsive understanding of maritime environments.
During the session, Vegard emphasized the critical role of Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) in supporting safe, efficient, and continuous maritime operations. With the Arctic gaining increasing strategic importance, USVs provide a cost-effective and environmentally responsible way to collect real-time data in remote and challenging areas, enhancing maritime domain awareness while reducing risk to human operators.
Maritime Robotics also participated in Industry Day at Northrop Grumman, where discussions centered on future challenges and potential collaboration. Northrop Grumman’s leadership in naval systems, spanning from subsea to space, reflects a shared commitment to innovation, a value that aligns closely with Norway’s defense technology sector.
The week also included the Henry Bacon Seminar, "Arctic Security: Advancing Defense and Deterrence", at the historic Army Navy Club. Named after the S.S. Henry Bacon, which rescued 19 Norwegian refugees in 1945, the seminar explored the Arctic's evolving security landscape through historical and contemporary perspectives.
NADIC Defense Week continues to serve as an important arena for strengthening transatlantic cooperation and highlighting the contributions of Norwegian companies to global defense and security efforts. Maritime Robotics is proud to be part of this dialogue and to contribute solutions that enhance operational safety, reduce environmental impact, and improve cost-efficiency across the maritime domain.
