Maritime Robotics enters the aquaculture business

Maritime Robotics will become the consortium leader in a innovative RnD project that will experiment with robotic inspection, monitoring and maintenance of fish farm installations.

The project team consists of leading and complimentary expertise from the partners Maritime Robotics AS, SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture, Argus Remote Systems AS, Lerow AS, ACE Test Center and WavEC. «This is an important strategic move for Maritime Robotics,” says Vegard Evjen Hovstein, Managing Director of Maritime Robotics. “Aquaculture is becoming a strong and increasingly important market. We also see that the industrialization of the fish farming business requires more automation of repetetive and costly operations.

As the fish farms move into more open waters, we sometimes see that robotic solutions will also improve the HSE situation in dangerous operations for humans.» The ARTIFEX project (from the latin word for craftsman) was one of four projects receiving support from the Norwegian Research Council´s special call on aquaculture through the MAROFF program.
